Review: Blue Moon Vintage Blonde Ale

Blue-Moon-Vintage-Blonde

I got a bottle of this from a nearby distributor.   Part of their “Reserve Collection.”  Looked interesting.  And it is, the same way a car accident can be interesting.

I should go on record here and say that while I’m not the world’s biggest fan of Blue Moon, I do enjoy a draft of it from time to time, as it is often the best beer in a standard bar’s lineup.  And I have never been a hater simply because it’s owned by Coors.

That said, this is a poor beer.  The color is where it should be, but it lacks a bit of the cloudiness one might expect (I don’t believe that it is bottle conditioned).   It pours nicely, but the dense head immediately collapses, leaving your pour completely flat within two minutes.  The aroma and flavor are ok, malty with a slightly bitter finish, but without the carbonation sparkle, it quite literally falls flat.  Not recommended.
