I finally got around to bottling my oatmeal stout this week. Because I have been sick and still don’t have a lot of energy, I split the bottling work between two days (one half-batch per day).I had split this batch into two carboys so I could try two different yeasts, Nottingham and Safale S-04.
I was very careful to make sure the two half-batches are otherwise identical, with 2.3 volumes of CO2.
The beer tastes great going into the bottle. I’m really looking forward to trying this, and am hoping to put together some sort of “yeast shoot-out” tasting. More on this later.
